For High-Throughput Aseptic Media Preparation

INTEGRA Petri Dish Filler (MEDIAJET)

Contamination control is central to the MEDIAJET's design. The instrument is equipped with a powerful 2.1 W UV lamp that extends over the full length of the rotor, delivering optimal bactericidal efficiency within the filling chamber—the most vulnerable area for contamination. Furthermore, the filling chamber surface is manufactured from a single piece of resistant PE material, which facilitates convenient and efficient cleaning, helping to ensure a consistently clean, aseptic environment for every plate batch.

The system offers unique flexibility, capable of filling various dish sizes (35, 60, and 90 mm) and even two-compartment (biplate) dishes or test tubes. A key feature is the built-in "Agar Spread Function," which ensures homogeneous agar distribution and an even surface, optimizing the agar level in each dish. This feature not only improves the growth surface quality but also significantly reduces media consumption, directly addressing high running costs associated with traditional overfilling.

Manual pouring of agar plates is painstaking, slow, and severely limits a lab’s production capacity. MEDIAJET enables a high throughput of up to 1100 dishes per hour, converting a manual bottleneck into a rapid, automated process.

Contamination is the most significant challenge in manual media preparation, compromising the sterility of the final product. The integration of a powerful UV lamp (2.1 W UV-C) in the filling chamber provides active bactericidal activity, safeguarding the plates during the opening and filling steps.

Inconsistent agar surface quality in manually poured plates leads to unreliable growth and experimental variability. The unique "Agar Spread Function" ensures homogeneous agar distribution, creating an even, optimal surface for microbial cultivation.

Media costs can become excessive due to the tendency to overfill dishes manually or with non-optimized pumps to ensure coverage. The Agar Spread Function optimizes the required agar volume, leading to a significant reduction in media consumption and operational expenditure.

Handling dishes from different manufacturers can be problematic for automated systems due to variations in dish diameter or shape. The 'Feed-In / Stack-Out' technology actively guides virtually any brand of Petri dish, ensuring reliable operation without jams or errors.

The absence of traceability and labeling in manual processes makes quality control and regulatory validation difficult. Optional inkjet printer connection kits allow for automated side-wall or bottom imprinting of text, barcodes, or production dates, facilitating crucial process documentation.

Manual cleaning of complex filling machinery can be difficult and ineffective, leaving residues that promote contamination. The filling chamber is constructed from a single, resistant PE piece, simplifying wipe-down and ensuring thorough, efficient cleaning.

Laboratories often need to fill non-standard vessels like bottles or tubes, requiring a separate dedicated pump. The MEDIAJET pump can be used independently with a foot switch for dispensing into tubes or bottles, increasing the instrument's utility beyond standard Petri dishes.
